Analysis of the municipal cost attributable to excessive alcohol consumption (2013 and 2016)
Conducted for KORA as part of their remit for The Danish Health Authority in a study of municipal costs attributable to excessive alcohol consumption.
The focus of the analysis was to determine the municipal cost attributable to excessive alcohol consumption. The analysis included costs associated with welfare payments, co-financing of health expenditure, costs associated with relief measures for children and adolescents, and costs in connection with personal and practical municipal assistance.
The analysis was based on own calculations using extracts from a long list of patient and administrative registers including data from: Statistics Denmark, The Danish National Patient Register, Danish Register of Medicinal Product Statistics, The Danish National Health Service Register, The Danish National Register of Alcoholics, and municipal EOJ data.
The analysis results were published in a national report prepared by KORA. i2minds has also provided 98 municipal reports and graphic interactive cards for benchmarking municipal costs associated with excessive alcohol consumption – link to The Danish Health Authority
The analysis was implemented on several occasions, most recently in 2016 using the latest register data.
